BANGKOK — Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Cairo is prepared to provide Saudi Arabia with any form of support, including potential military assistance, as the Kingdom faces intensified Houthi attacks.
“Whatever is being asked by the Saudis, of course we will respond,” Abdelatty told Bloomberg Television when asked whether Egypt could provide military support to Saudi Arabia.
“Without any reservation, we provide all kinds of support,” he added during an interview on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund’s annual meetings in Bangkok, according to Anadolu Agency.
Abdelatty also revealed that Egypt is seriously considering joining the Makkah Joint Defense Alliance.
“The issue is under serious consideration by the Egyptian side,” he said.
His remarks come amid escalating Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia.
