RIYADH — A projectile caused fire at Terminal 4 of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Sunday, according to Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen. “The Coalition also intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile in the vicinity of the airport,” he said.

Al-Maliki said that that Terminal 4 of the airport was targeted by an unidentified projectile, resulting in a fire, and the relevant authorities have responded to the incident.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed that the new attack at the airport on Sunday afternoon resulted in injuries. “An assessment of the damage and verification of the safety of the facilities is underway, in coordination with the relevant authorities,” GACA added.

The GACA announced early Sunday that 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in Saturday’s attack on King Khalid International Airport. In a previous statement, Al-Maliki described the attack as a full-fledged war crime according to international humanitarian law and its customary rules. He emphasized that it was a heinous act that contradicts principles, values, and ethics. Al-Maliki affirmed that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition would respond to this terrorist attack decisively, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules.
