JEDDAH — Thunderstorms and rainfall are forecast to affect several regions across the Kingdom until the end of next week, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).
According to an animated map issued by the NCM showing the projected path of the rainfall, light to moderate showers will begin early Friday morning across eastern Najran and the southern parts of the Eastern Province, persisting until later that morning.
By early afternoon, light rain is forecast to affect parts of the southern Eastern Province.
Later in the afternoon, as rainfall begins to weaken and dissipate over the Eastern Province before moving toward Najran, moderate rainfall will spread along the southwestern coast of the Kingdom, affecting parts of Asir, Jazan, and Makkah.
By evening, most of the rainfall will have disappeared, with only light showers scattered between western Najran and the southern Eastern Province, persisting until early Saturday morning.
On Saturday afternoon, light rain will spread across the southwestern parts of the Eastern Province and become scattered across northern Najran, the central southern parts of the Riyadh region, and small areas of the southwestern coast.
As the afternoon progresses, the light rain over the Eastern Province, Najran, and Riyadh will begin to weaken and become more scattered, while moderate rainfall spreads across the southwestern parts of the Kingdom, mainly affecting the Jazan and Asir regions, as well as Taif in the Makkah region.
Light showers will also be scattered along the border between the Riyadh and Qassim regions.
Most of Sunday will remain dry until the afternoon, when moderate to heavy showers are expected to affect eastern Jazan and southern Asir, while lighter rainfall will impact eastern Najran and the southern Eastern Province.
As the day progresses into the evening, light showers will spread farther north across parts of the Eastern Province and the Riyadh region.
By early Monday morning, rainfall is expected to disappear completely from the Kingdom before returning in the afternoon, when light to moderate showers are forecast to spread across the Eastern Province and the southwestern coast, affecting Asir, Jazan, and Taif in the Makkah region.
Monday evening will see only light, scattered showers along the border between the Eastern Province and Najran, persisting until early Tuesday morning.
After that, Tuesday will remain dry until the afternoon, when light rainfall will spread across the southern parts of the Eastern Province and extend into southern Riyadh. Light showers are also expected across southern Najran.
Tuesday evening will see moderate to heavy rainfall along the border between Asir and Jazan, with lighter showers extending into Al-Baha before the rain begins to weaken, become scattered, and eventually disappear from the affected regions, as well as from the Eastern Province and Riyadh.
Meanwhile, light rainfall will spread across most of Najran and persist until early Wednesday morning, when only very light showers are expected across northern Riyadh and parts of the southwestern Kingdom.
Later that morning, heavier rainfall will spread along the border between Asir and Jazan and extend into Al-Baha, while lighter showers are expected across southern Najran and isolated parts of Riyadh.
By late afternoon, the heavy rainfall over the southwestern coast will begin to ease, while the lighter rain affecting other areas will gradually disappear.
Wednesday evening will see only light rainfall scattered across much of the southern Kingdom.
On Thursday afternoon, heavy rainfall will return to Asir and Jazan, although only briefly before weakening, becoming scattered, and eventually dissipating.
Friday will see only very light, scattered showers across a few parts of the Kingdom until the afternoon, when heavy rainfall is expected to return to Asir and Jazan, extending into Al-Baha.
By evening, the heavy rain will have weakened, become scattered, and eventually disappeared from the Kingdom.
