A Scottish family has transformed its longstanding passion for falconry into a family business specializing in breeding and raising falcons, participating in the International Falcon Breeders Auction 2026, organized by the National Center for Falcons in Malham, north of Riyadh, alongside farms and producers from around the world.

Leslie, representing one of the participating falcon breeding farms from Scotland, said her connection with falcons began many years ago through falconry and flying as a hobby. Over time, this passion developed into breeding and raising falcons, eventually becoming a family activity that brings its members together.

She explained that her husband oversees a major part of the production process, while their daughter helps raise and care for the birds, passing the family’s passion for falconry from one generation to the next and turning the hobby into an experience that combines family life and work in breeding.

Leslie noted that the beauty of falcons and the diversity of their shapes and colors were among the main factors that attracted her to falconry, adding that each bird has distinctive characteristics that draw breeders’ attention as they observe and select their favorites.

She added that falconers’ preferences vary when selecting birds, particularly regarding color. While some prefer lighter-colored ones, others favor dark or black birds, with the choice ultimately depending on each falconer’s personal taste and the qualities they seek.

The International Falcon Breeders Auction brings together diverse local and international expertise in falcon breeding and raising, enabling falconers and visitors to learn from participating producers’ experiences and view a variety of falcon types and categories on display. The auction continues to receive visitors until August 25.
