WASHINGTON —The Saudi Embassy in the US warned citizens of an increase in fraud attempts by individuals impersonating embassy employees and requesting financial payments or personal financial information.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the embassy alerted citizens and residents to the growing number of scams involving individuals falsely claiming to represent the embassy.

The embassy stressed that it never requests the transfer of funds or the sharing of personal or financial information through phone calls, text messages, or emails.

It also urged citizens and residents not to respond to such attempts. Instead, the embassy advised them to verify the caller’s identity before sharing any information or taking any action, and to report any requests for money or personal financial information through official channels.
