JAZAN/ASIR — Saudi authorities arrested a total of 18 Border Security Law violators in separate anti-smuggling operations in Jazan and Asir, seizing 244 kilograms of khat and 149,400 tablets.
In Jazan, Border Guard land patrols in the Al-Aridah Sector arrested nine Yemeni Border Security Law violators for attempting to smuggle 144 kilograms of khat.

In a separate operation in the Al-Dayer Sector of Jazan, Border Guard land patrols arrested four Ethiopian Border Security Law violators for attempting to smuggle 149,400 tablets subject to the Law Regulating Medical Preparations and Pharmaceutical Products.
Meanwhile, in Asir, Border Guard land patrols in the Al-Rabouah Sector arrested five Ethiopian Border Security Law violators for attempting to smuggle 100 kilograms of khat.
Authorities said the necessary preliminary legal procedures had been completed, and the suspects and the seized items were handed over to the competent authority.

Authorities urged the public to report any information related to drug smuggling or trafficking by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, 999 in the rest of the Kingdom, 994 for the Border Guard, or 995 for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
