    Prophet’s Mosque Library Welcomes Pilgrims to Explore Centuries of Heritage

    The Prophet’s Mosque Library has opened its doors to pilgrims arriving in Madinah after completing their Hajj, giving international guests access to its extensive scholarly resources and educational services in a quiet, tranquil environment.
     As one of the oldest endowed libraries in the Islamic world, the facility serves as a centuries-old repository of knowledge for researchers, students, and intellectuals. The main library is situated on the western side of the mosque near Staircase 10, while dedicated facilities for female researchers are located on the northern side near Gate 24 and the northwestern side near Gate 12.
     The library houses an exceptional scholarly collection, including approximately 4,000 original manuscripts, nearly 60,000 digitized and photographed manuscripts, 4,600 multimedia items, and more than 250 rare handwritten copies of the Quran. This vast collection positions the library as a leading destination for Islamic manuscript heritage.
     To aid visitors, the library features specialized rooms, including a manuscript hall, a rare books section, and an audio library. Modern digital cataloging services also enable researchers to locate materials accurately and easily, supporting the institution’s historic mission of preserving global Islamic heritage.
