Meta Platforms recently announced the formation of a new business unit focussed on increasing the use of AI by enterprises. Chirantan Desai, MongoDB’s president and CEO, will run the operation.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Desai would join the freshly-minted Meta Enterprise Platform as chief enterprise platform officer, pointing to his “track record of building full-stack software and delivering results in AI, infrastructure, business applications and security”.
Before heading MongoDB, Desai led product and engineering at Cloudflare and had an eight-year stint at ServiceNow, including a role as president and COO.
Describing Meta Enterprise Platform as “the next major pillar of our business”, Zuckerberg said the unit would use strengths which “few other companies have: advanced models, leading agents, large-scale infrastructure and years of working closely with many businesses”.
Initially, Meta plans to focus on bringing its full technology stack including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code, and more to businesses and developers.
Desai said Meta aims to establish itself as “the place enterprises come to scale their businesses”.
