TEHRAN — Clashes broke out between Iranian forces and US troops during a rescue operation for a downed American pilot, with Iranian media claiming that a US C-130 support aircraft was shot down.

According to Defa Press Agency, Iranian law enforcement special units destroyed several US assets, including an HC-130 special operations aircraft, two Black Hawk helicopters, and multiple drones.

The report said fighting continued on the ground between Iranian units and US personnel involved in or supporting the mission.

Earlier, Iranian media claimed that a US C-130 support aircraft had been downed in southern Isfahan.

Separately, Fox News reported that several US service members were injured during an operation to extract the second crew member of an F-15 fighter jet shot down over Iran.

There has been no official confirmation from the United States regarding the Iranian claims.
