The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) concluded yesterday in Abidjan, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, a specialized training program titled “Analyzing Extremist and Hate Speech in Digital Media: Tools and Techniques for Smart Countermeasures” as part of its strategic media initiative “Media Professionals for Peace,” aimed at building professional media capacities capable of addressing rapidly evolving intellectual challenges in the digital environment.

The program, which ran with the participation of 30 trainees, including media professionals and individuals interested in media affairs, focused on enhancing in-depth understanding of the nature of extremist and hate speech, analyzing factors contributing to its spread, and developing participants’ professional skills in handling media content in line with best practices, thereby strengthening the role of media in preventing extremism and promoting a message of moderation.

Training sessions also covered practical aspects, including equipping participants with digital verification tools, techniques for monitoring and analyzing media content, methods for detecting misinformation, and developing skills to produce responsible media content that promotes a culture of peace and reinforces values of tolerance and coexistence.

The program emphasized the pivotal role of media professionals in the digital age as “digital gatekeepers,” highlighting their professional and ethical responsibilities to counter misleading content, enhance the credibility of media messaging, and limit the spread of rumors.
