Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) announced the successful implementation of the operational plan for the Haramain High Speed Railway during the 1447 AH Hajj season, with the railway transporting more than 1.16 million passengers through 5,569 trips linking Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah Main Station, King Abdulaziz International Airport Station, and King Abdullah Economic City Station. The service supported the smooth movement of pilgrims and facilitated their travel between destinations connected by the railway network throughout the season.

The Haramain High Speed Railway recorded outstanding performance during the Hajj season, achieving an on-time performance rate exceeding 98%. The number of daily trips on peak days reached 142, reflecting the system’s high readiness, efficient operational management, and ability to accommodate increased demand during the season.

SAR CEO Bashar AlMalik said that the achievements realized during the 1447 AH Hajj season were made possible by the significant support provided by the Kingdom’s leadership to the pilgrim service system. He noted that the continuous follow-up and attention from Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of SAR Saleh Al-Jasser contributed to providing all the necessary enablers for implementing the operational plan at the highest levels of efficiency and readiness.

The Haramain High Speed Railway is one of the fastest electric trains in the world, reaching speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour. It connects Makkah and Madinah via five main stations along a 453-kilometer route and is one of the Kingdom’s most prominent modern transportation projects, supporting pilgrim services.
