The environment, water, and agriculture ecosystem is advancing rapidly toward the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 through an integrated institutional structure comprising 10 specialized agencies that promote sustainable development, protect natural resources, improve operational and financial efficiency, and strengthen innovation and digital transformation, delivering high-quality services and enabling relevant sectors to fulfill their strategic roles.
These efforts come as the Saudi Water Week kicks off in Jeddah from June 28 to July 2, 2026, serving as a key platform to review sector progress and future objectives.
The Environment Agency plays a central role in sustainability and natural resource protection through its International and Climate Affairs unit, which represents the Kingdom globally and follows up on climate agreements and initiatives. Biodiversity protection is led by strategies for terrestrial, marine, and coastal ecosystems, while environmental regulations and performance monitoring aim to reduce pollution and improve compliance.
The Water Agency ensures sustainable water resources through planning, supply-demand management, groundwater and surface water protection, and capacity-building initiatives. The Agriculture Agency advances food security through plant and animal resource development, veterinary health, and agricultural sustainability, including smart and circular farming practices.
Supporting sectors comprise institutional excellence, financial management, geospatial information systems, land management, research and innovation, economic investment, and digital transformation. Together, these integrated efforts strengthen governance, improve efficiency, and support sustainable development across the Kingdom.
