PARIS — The “coalition of the willing” on Monday reaffirmed its “unwavering support” for Ukraine and pledged to accelerate efforts to secure a just and lasting peace.

In a joint statement issued after a meeting in Paris, co-chairs France and the United Kingdom said the group remains committed to achieving a peace settlement in line with international law and the principles of the U.N. Charter while safeguarding Ukraine’s sovereignty and broader European security.

The coalition, which includes 35 countries, said it was building on the outcomes of the recent G7 summit in Evian and the NATO summit in Ankara.

The statement said participating countries reached broad consensus on advancing peace negotiations, maintaining support for Ukraine, increasing pressure on Russia’s war economy, and establishing security guarantees for Kyiv.

The coalition renewed its call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and the resumption of direct negotiations.

It also backed a proposal for direct Ukraine-Russia talks with active participation from the United States and European partners, beginning with a ceasefire along the current front line before broader negotiations.

The group reiterated that there can be “no peace without Ukraine” and that no decisions affecting European security should be made without European participation.

It also said Russian assets would remain frozen until Moscow ends its war against Ukraine and compensates Kyiv for war-related damages.

On security guarantees, the coalition welcomed what it described as U.S. President Donald Trump’s “strong statement” in support of security guarantees for Ukraine during the NATO summit in Ankara.

The statement added that any lasting peace agreement must be underpinned by politically and legally binding security guarantees that would take effect once a ceasefire enters into force.
