The return of the Arabian oryx to areas of northern Saudi Arabia within King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve marks a significant environmental achievement. The reserve’s development authority has successfully reintroduced and bred the endangered species, returning it to its natural habitat after an absence of more than 90 years. Numerous successful births have been recorded in several areas of the reserve.

The reintroduction program reflects the authority’s commitment to supporting ecological balance, enriching biodiversity, and preserving endangered species whose numbers have declined due to environmental pressures, loss of vegetation cover, and overhunting.
