Qassim astronomers have observed Comet C/2025 R3, a rare celestial visitor with an orbit lasting thousands of years. Currently in the Pegasus constellation and bright enough to be seen with binoculars, experts predict it will soon be visible to the naked eye as it draws closer to the sun.

In early Dhu Al-Qadah, the comet will reach perihelion, its closest point to the sun, passing at a distance of 75 million kilometers. For those in the Northern Hemisphere, the best time to watch is just before sunrise on the eastern horizon.

Its brightness is expected to peak after it passes the sun due to a light-reflecting effect called “forward scattering.” Enthusiasts and photographers are encouraged to capture this rare event before the comet fades and moves toward the western horizon.
