Rising passenger traffic on the Haramain High Speed Railway is creating investment opportunities in Madinah Region in transport, hospitality, tourism, commerce, and logistics, according to the 69th economic bulletin of the Al Madinah Al Munawarah Chamber.
The railway carried about 8.53 million passengers in 2025, averaging 96 trips a day, up 31.5% from 73 in 2024. Its fleet comprised 70 trains with 455 passenger carriages and a seating capacity of 14,595.
Madinah station handled about 6.04 million arriving and departing passengers in 2025, up 48% from 4.09 million in 2023, or about 16,600 a day, accounting for 35.4% of passenger movements across all stations.
The bulletin identifies opportunities in shuttle services between the station, the central district, and hotels; door-to-door transport linking the station, hotels, and the airport; Umrah packages combining train tickets, accommodation, and tours; and excursions to historical sites and landmarks. Other opportunities include expanding retail, food, and beverage outlets at the station, developing mixed-use projects nearby, and providing parking and car rental services. The bulletin puts peak monthly demand for these services at about 739,000 passengers.
Sustained growth in rail traffic supports investment in transport, tourism, and hospitality and helps stimulate the local economy and Madinah’s appeal as an investment destination, the bulletin said.
