    Saudi FM holds high-level UNGA talks with UN chief, foreign ministers

    NEW YORK — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a series of meetings with UN Secretary-General and the foreign ministers of Algeria, Mexico and Ghana on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st UN General Assembly.

    During the Prince’s meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres the two reviewed areas of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United Nations and discussed regional and international developments of mutual interest.

    Prince Faisal also expressed his appreciation to the UN chief as he approaches the end of his tenure, commending his efforts during his time in office.

    The minister separately met Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, reviewing bilateral relations and ways to strengthen and develop them. They also discussed the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts in response.

    During his meeting with Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco Álvarez, Prince Faisal discussed key regional and international issues, exchanged views on current developments and reviewed related international efforts.

    Prince Faisal also met Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, with the two reviewing bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them across various fields, as well as issues of mutual interest.

    The meetings were attended by Saudi officials including Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wassil. Prince Faisal’s meeting with Guterres was also attended by Undersecretary for Multilateral International Affairs and Supervisor General of the Ministry’s Agency for Economic and Development Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Raisi and Special Envoy and Advisor to the Foreign Minister for Negotiations and Peace Efforts Manal Radwan.
