A sighting of a cattle egret, a waterbird belonging to the heron family, at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve has offered a glimpse into the rich wildlife and diverse habitats found across the reserve.
The sighting also reflects the variety of environments within the reserve, which extends beyond its terrestrial landscapes to include wetlands and other water environments that provide important habitats for a wide range of birds and wildlife.
Shallow waters and ponds, in particular, provide feeding grounds where birds can take advantage of the diverse food resources found in these environments.
The presence of the cattle egret highlights the role of these aquatic habitats in supporting wildlife and providing favorable conditions for species that depend on water. Their availability also helps sustain wildlife across different seasons and varying environmental conditions.
The pond where the bird was spotted is among the reserve’s notable water features. It adds to the diversity of the natural landscape while providing a suitable habitat for birds and other wildlife, contributing to the reserve’s biodiversity and helping maintain the balance of its ecosystem.
