DAMMAM — Saudi customs authorities at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam have foiled an attempt to smuggle 18,549 amphetamine pills hidden inside a postal parcel entering the Kingdom.

Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi said the parcel was discovered during customs procedures after it was inspected using security technologies and detection methods.

The pills were found concealed inside the shipment.

Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) to identify and arrest those who were due to receive the shipment in Saudi Arabia.

Four people were arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt.

Al-Harbi said ZATCA continues to tighten customs controls over imports and exports at all entry points to prevent smuggling and protect society, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the GDNC.

The authority urged the public to report suspected smuggling activities through its designated security hotline, 1910, or other official reporting channels. It said reports are handled with full confidentiality and that financial rewards may be granted when information provided proves accurate.
