RIYADH — The Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA) has detected a commercial establishment advertising professional services without the required license and referred the case to the Public Prosecution after taking the necessary legal measures.

SOCPA said preliminary inspection and evidence-gathering procedures found that the establishment had advertised on its website professional services that fall under the organization’s supervision without obtaining the required license.

The organization said such practices constitute offenses under Article 10 of the Law of the Accounting and Auditing Profession, which prohibits misleading the public by any means into believing that a person is authorized to practice the profession without a license, or when their license has been revoked or suspended.

SOCPA affirmed that it would continue its regulatory activities and take legal action against practices that compromise the integrity of the profession or mislead the public.

It stressed that professional services falling under its supervision must not be provided without the necessary licenses and called on licensed practitioners to comply with all relevant laws, regulations and decisions.

The organization also urged beneficiaries to verify the licensing status of professional service providers before dealing with them and to report suspected violations, helping protect clients and enhance the reliability and quality of professional services.
