    Saudi Arabia forecasts above-average October rainfall, hotter-than-normal temperatures through autumn

    RIYADH — The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has forecast varying rainfall and above-normal temperatures across the Kingdom during August, September and October 2026, with rainfall expected to increase gradually and exceed seasonal averages in most regions by October.

    The NCM said August rainfall is expected to remain below average in Jazan and Al-Baha, as well as parts of Najran, Asir, Makkah, Madinah, Tabuk, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, while other regions are likely to receive near-average rainfall.

    In September, above-average rainfall is forecast for Tabuk, Madinah and Al-Baha, along with parts of Asir, Makkah, Qassim, Hail, Al-Jouf and the Northern Borders Region. Rainfall in the rest of the Kingdom is expected to remain close to normal.

    The center said October is likely to bring above-average rainfall across most regions, while parts of the Eastern Province and Najran are expected to record near-average precipitation.

    Temperatures are forecast to remain above seasonal norms throughout the three-month period. In August, temperatures could rise by as much as 2.5 degrees Celsius above average in parts of Al-Baha, Asir and Makkah.

    During September, temperatures are expected to be up to 2 degrees Celsius above normal across Jazan, Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Hail, Qassim and the Northern Borders Region, as well as parts of Asir, Makkah, Al-Baha, Riyadh and the Eastern Province.

    In October, temperatures could exceed seasonal averages by up to 2.5 degrees Celsius in parts of Najran, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province.

    The NCM urged the public to follow its regular weather updates and climate forecasts for the latest information on rainfall and temperature trends across the Kingdom.
