RIYADH — Saudi authorities have dismantled a criminal network involved in drug smuggling and trafficking in Riyadh, arresting 22 suspects, including 19 Saudi citizens, the Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday.

A ministry official said the network included an employee of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, an Ethiopian national who had violated border security regulations, a Moroccan resident, and a Yemeni resident.

Authorities said legal measures have been taken against all suspects and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that Saudi security agencies remain vigilant against criminal networks seeking to target the Kingdom and its youth through narcotics.

It stressed that security authorities will continue to pursue and confront anyone attempting to undermine the Kingdom’s security or endanger the safety of citizens and residents.
