President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) Jalal Al-Owaisi led the authority’s delegation participating in the 55th meeting of the Governing Board of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The IFRC Governing Board comprises 20 members representing countries from around the world and plays a pivotal role in shaping the federation’s strategic directions and discussing key international humanitarian issues. Its work contributes to strengthening responses to growing humanitarian challenges in more than 191 countries.

Al-Owaisi emphasized the importance of the authority’s participation in the board’s proceedings, reflecting its active role within the international humanitarian system and its commitment to enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise with national societies and humanitarian organizations. He noted that such efforts support joint initiatives aimed at alleviating human suffering and responding to the increasing needs of communities affected by crises and disasters.

He added that the SRCA continues to fulfill its humanitarian mission domestically and internationally, guided by the humanitarian principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, while enhancing its capacity to provide emergency medical and humanitarian services efficiently and effectively.

Al-Owaisi also underscored the authority’s commitment to contributing to the IFRC’s vision and strengthening joint humanitarian and relief efforts, helping build more resilient communities and promote the values of international cooperation and humanitarian solidarity.

The SRCA’s participation in the IFRC Governing Board meeting reflects Saudi Arabia’s prominent role in the global humanitarian system and its continued support for humanitarian initiatives and international partnerships serving humanitarian causes worldwide.
