JEDDAH — Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majid Al-Hogail bid farewell on Thursday to Eng. Saleh Al-Turki following the completion of his second term as Mayor of Jeddah, commending his eight-year tenure at the helm of the mayoralty.

In a statement posted on his X account, accompanied by a photograph of himself with Al-Turki, Al-Hogail said: “Today we bid farewell to my brother Saleh Al-Turki, after a journey replete with achievements and contributions. For eight years, he led a developmental transformation at the Jeddah Mayoralty, delivering impactful initiatives and services that touched people’s lives, enhanced community well-being, and elevated the urban landscape.” The minister concluded by wishing Al-Turki continued success in his future endeavors.

Al-Turki is widely regarded as one of the most prominent executive leaders in the municipal sector. Since assuming leadership of the Jeddah Mayoralty in 2018, he has overseen a phase of restructuring and development aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, with his tenure subsequently extended for a second term.

Throughout his tenure, Al-Turki’s leadership has been closely associated with a series of key initiatives, most notably the enhancement of the urban landscape, the mitigation of visual pollution, the development of infrastructure and municipal services, the strengthening of partnerships with the private sector, and the acceleration of digital transformation. Collectively, these efforts have contributed to improving the quality of life in the city.

During this period, the Mayoralty also addressed a range of pressing challenges, including the impact of floods and related infrastructure concerns, the organization and redevelopment of unplanned neighborhoods, and the enhancement of municipal services in response to Jeddah’s urban expansion and population growth.

Al-Turki brings a strong administrative and economic background. He rose to prominence in the private sector as chairman of the Board of Nesma Holding Group before transitioning to public service, carrying with him extensive experience in managing large-scale projects and institutional operations.

He is recognized for an administrative approach rooted in governance and institutional discipline, with a focus on accelerating performance and empowering talent, including advancing the participation of Saudi nationals in leadership roles within the mayoralty.
